Review Guidelines

The International Journal For Research in Biology & Pharmacy (IJRBP), published by ARC Publication Services L.L.C., upholds ethical peer review standards consistent with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and responsible academic publishing practices.

Peer review is a fundamental component of academic publishing. Reviewers serve as independent subject experts and contribute to maintaining the scientific quality, originality, reliability, and academic integrity of manuscripts submitted to the journal.

IJRBP follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process:

• Author identities are concealed from reviewers.
• Reviewer identities are concealed from authors.
• Manuscripts are evaluated by qualified and independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise.
• Editorial decisions are based on reviewer assessments, scientific quality, ethical considerations, and editorial judgment.

The review process is conducted fairly, objectively, confidentially, and without discrimination based on nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, or other personal characteristics.

By accepting a review assignment, reviewers agree to conduct the review objectively, confidentially, and within the agreed timeframe.

3. Confidentiality

All manuscripts submitted to IJRBP are confidential documents and should be treated as unpublished intellectual work.

Reviewers must:

• Not share, distribute, or discuss manuscripts with unauthorized individuals.
• Not use unpublished information, data, methods, or findings for personal research or professional advantage.
• Not reproduce or retain manuscript content beyond what is necessary for the review.

Reviewers should not attempt to identify the authors of manuscripts submitted under the journal's double-blind peer review process.

Where a conflict of interest may compromise impartiality, reviewers should decline the review invitation and inform the editorial office.

5. Ethical Vigilance and Research Integrity

Reviewers play an important role in identifying potential concerns relating to research and publication ethics.

Reviewers should notify the editorial office confidentially if they identify possible:

• Plagiarism or substantial similarity
• Duplicate or redundant publication
• Fabrication or falsification of research data
• Manipulation or inappropriate presentation of images, figures, tables, or results
• Inappropriate authorship practices
• Citation manipulation or excessive self-citation
• Undisclosed conflicts of interest

• Undisclosed or inappropriate use of generative artificial intelligence
• Other concerns that may affect the reliability or integrity of the research

Ethical concerns should be communicated to the editorial office rather than directly to the authors.

6. Scientific Evaluation Standards

Reviewers are expected to assess manuscripts according to criteria appropriate to the subject and methodology of the submitted research.

6.1 Originality and Scientific Contribution

Reviewers should consider:

• Whether the research addresses a meaningful scientific question or research gap
• Originality of the research
• Significance of the findings
• Contribution to biological or pharmaceutical sciences
• Relevance to the journal's scope

6.2 Methodological Rigor

Reviewers should evaluate:

• Appropriateness of the research design
• Adequacy of methods and experimental procedures
• Appropriate sample selection and data collection, where applicable
• Validity and reliability of analytical methods
• Appropriateness of statistical analysis
• Whether the methodology supports the stated conclusions

6.3 Results and Interpretation

Reviewers should assess:

• Whether the interpretation is supported by the evidence
• Whether conclusions are consistent with the results
• Appropriate acknowledgment of study limitations

6.4 Literature and Referencing

Reviewers should consider:

• Relevance and adequacy of the literature review
• Appropriate use of current and authoritative scientific literature
• Accuracy and consistency of citations and references
• Balanced and appropriate citation practices
• Avoidance of unnecessary or coercive citation

6.5 Clarity and Scholarly Presentation

Reviewers should assess:

• Logical organization of the manuscript
• Clarity of scientific communication
• Appropriate terminology
• Quality and clarity of tables and figures
• Whether the manuscript is sufficiently clear for its intended academic audience

Minor language or presentation issues may be identified separately from substantive scientific concerns.

7. Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

Reviewers must protect the confidentiality of manuscripts when using any technological or digital tools during the review process.

Reviewers should:

• Not upload confidential manuscripts or substantial portions of manuscripts to public or third-party generative AI platforms.
• Not use AI tools in a manner that compromises manuscript confidentiality.
• Not allow AI-generated assessments to replace their own expert evaluation and professional judgment.
• Ensure that any permitted language or technical assistance does not compromise the accuracy, independence, or confidentiality of the review.

Reviewers remain responsible for the substance and confidentiality of their review reports.

8. Timeliness and Professional Conduct

Reviewers are expected to:

• Complete reviews within the timeframe communicated by the editorial office.
• Inform the editorial office promptly if additional time is required.
• Decline the invitation if they do not have sufficient expertise or availability.
• Provide respectful, professional, clear, and constructive comments.
• Avoid offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, or personal remarks.

Repeated failure to complete assigned reviews without communication may affect future reviewer invitations.

9. Review Recommendations

Reviewers may provide one of the following recommendations:

• Accept
• Minor Revision
• Major Revision
• Reject

Recommendations should be supported by clear, specific, and evidence-based comments.

Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the complete peer review record, scientific quality, ethical considerations, and editorial assessment.

10. Accountability and Transparency

The editorial office maintains appropriate records of peer review activities to support accountability, confidentiality, and ethical oversight.

Where serious or repeated breaches of reviewer responsibilities occur, the journal may take appropriate action, which may include:

• Removal from the journal's reviewer database
• Suspension of future review invitations
• Investigation of the reported concern
• Referral to the reviewer's affiliated institution or relevant authority where appropriate

Any action taken will be considered according to the nature and seriousness of the concern.
